Summer the Calliope... and a personal note about alts.

OOC: One of my favorite things about having an alt is the attempted effort of making them their own character separate from myself. I honestly don't think I'm very good at the separation from self and I'm just no fun at roleplaying in general because it's really difficult for me to get out of my own head. I end up just getting to know myself more in the process and feel like I just act even more like... myself? So, maybe that's actually what I enjoy about alts? 🤣 But anyway, Crystal Songscroll (my main in Star Stable) is every bit as "me" as I can be in and out of character. But here we have Duke Desertbird who is truly my "malt." I've attempted the male alt thing before in Second Life and ended up with a character that was more akin to a twin (Eneas Aura, if you've seen that purple pegasus dude roaming around the grid.) But more recently, I tried the "malt" thing again while actively avoiding the "it's me but male" mentality and I came up with Setnakesh, known here in SSO as Duke Desertbird.

So, I know what you're thinking. "But Crystal, there are no male player characters in Star Stable!" And yes, I know that. I'm not trying to shove Duke's "maleness" in anyone's face and I am perfectly happy with all of the story quests referring to the player character as a female. Boys have enough games that cater to them as it is. And as a human who is still figuring out who they are but assigned female at birth, the fact that SSO is geared for a young female audience makes me very happy.

The part I find fun about framing Duke as a male character is trying to dress him up to look like one with the limited androgynous clothing options SSO offers. I really do think its great that they have mustache and beard accessories though. While some people might find it silly, there are some who find it caring and inclusive. ♥
